E-Recruitment Site an Award Winner
by Richard Darsie

The UC Davis E-recruitment site (http://why.ucdavis.edu/) has caught the eye of more than just prospective undergraduates. The judges of the 2001 Dottie Awards like it a lot, too. Why.ucdavis.edu, a collaborative effort between Undergraduate Admissions, the Division of Humanities, Arts and Cultural Studies (HArCS), IET, and Public Communications, is the winner of a 2001 Dottie Award in the "Education & Training" category.

The Dottie Awards are northern California's answer to the famed "Webby" Awards. According to their site, the purpose of the "Dotties" is "to acknowledge those Web sites and specifically highlight those which have created excellent online environments with exemplary Web site design, content, resources and interactivity."

For Craig Hillis of Public Communications, the primary designer of the site, the award is a particular satisfaction. "It's always nice when something you work on receives this kind of recognition. But more than that, being recognized by the Dotties will enhance the site's visibility, increase its audience, and benefit the university as a whole."

To learn more about the E-recruitment site and the project that created it, read "Come On In; the University's Just Right: E-Recruitment Site Designed to Entice Prospective Students" in the March/April 2001 IT Times.
