Introducing the Technocultural Studies Major at UC Davis

Technology has become so intertwined with everyday life that the humanities are now integrating technology theory into their curricula. The new technocultural studies department, which will kick off winter quarter. Students will eventually be able to major in Technocultural Studies, but they

can immediately begin taking courses such as “History of Sound in the Arts” where they will examine audiophonic and audiovisual technologies. Other courses include “Topics in Virtuality,” “Parallels in Art and Science,” or “Technoculture and the Popular Imagination,” according to the program’s site.
