CPR Phasing Out Apple Computer Repair
|

|
Throughout fall quarter, Information and Educational Technology's Computer and Printer Repair (CPR) will be phasing out Apple computer repair. CPR will continue to repair HP and Apple printers and has been renamed "Campus Printer Repair." ![]() Why the Phase Out?
There are two main reasons for the decision to phase out Apple computer repair services, according to Peter Blando, CPR and Lab Management supervisor. "Apple has changed its service model and is encouraging customers with in-warranty computers to go directly to Apple rather than a service provider such as CPR," said Blando. "Because of this new support model and given that fewer and fewer campus affiliates own Apple computers, last year we served less than 25 percent of the clients we did two years ago." This trend is likely to continue in the years to come. How Clients Will Be Notified
Anyone coming to CPR (10 Art Annex) with an Apple computer throughout fall quarter will have his or her computer assessed to determine whether CPR has the parts to fix it. If CPR has the parts, a technician will fix the computer one last time, and will encourage the client to utilize either Apple's direct repair service or any of a number of Apple computer repair providers in the Davis area for future repair needs.Anyone who has utilized CPR's Apple repair services in the last two years has also received a letter explaining the phase out and including a local service provider list. What Will Happen Next
CPR will repair your computer one last time throughout fall quarter, provided that the unit has the parts to provide the service. Purchasing has established contracts with Apple repair vendors to assist departments with their future needs.
