Everybody knows that all registered UC Davis students are eligible for an Easy Access computer account, right? Well they are. Everybody also knows that they must fill out forms to get the accounts, right? Well, that process has changed in fall 1992.

Easy Access accounts are now pre-allocated to all registered students. (Note that an-rent Easy Access accounts remain valid and unchanged in any way.) New students merely need to connect by microcomputer or terminal to an Information Technology computer and activate their accounts, as follows:

  • From a modern or from a terminal
    Dial: 752-7920, -7950, -7900 etc.
At the "Request:" prompt, type: newaccount

  • From a networked microcomputer on campus:
    Type: telnet newaccount

You will be connected to a computer. At the "Login:" prompt, once again:
Type: newaccount

Now read and follow the instructions to register your Easy Access account typing your student ID number and other information at the appropriate prompts. Paper copies of these instructions are available in computer labs in the basement of Hutchison Hall. After completing this process, your account will be registered and your electronic mailname will be created the first time you use any of the computers managed by Information Technology. Direct any questions on electronic mail or on registering to the IT Campus Access Point in Surge 11 (752-2548).
