Some time ago the I.T. Times carried an article on Gopher with an illustration of some kind of a rat (which I presumed was as much as a Californian would know of rodents). Needless to say, as a gopher graduate (alumnus of the University of Minnesota), I was dismayed!
The gopher of Minnesota fame is really a 13-striped ground squirrel. Today, thanks to the UM Alumni Association, I have an authentic, cartoonized, nearly real gopher.
Sincerely,
