How Can I Access the World Wide Web on the Internet?
You can access the WWW through a web browser like Netscape or Mosaic on
a PC or Mac or through your campus computer account. To reach the WWW
from a machine in a campus Macintosh lab, and to access graphics as well as
text, double-click on the Netscape icon. If the UC Davis home page does not
come up, select the Open button and type http://www.ucdavis.edu.
To use Netscape in a campus PC lab, select the windows option in the menu
and double-click on the Netscape icon, which is in the Network Utilities
Window under Program Manager. You can also access the Web from home
using a modem even if you don't have Netscape or Mosaic software. This
can be done by logging into the campus computer system on bullwinkle,
rocky, chip or dale, and typing lynx at the prompt. With lynx, you will then
be able to access text without graphics.
