Network 21

Residence Halls to Be Wired

In conjunction with Network 21, Student Housing is wiring campus residence halls for data access and direct connection to Network 21's high-speed, fiber optic network. Pat Kearney, Director of Student Housing, Roy Benson, Peter Hunter, and other Student Housing representatives are working closely with the Network 21 team to coordinate project ResNet.

While renovation of campus communication closets is, at the moment, the most visible part of the Network 21 project, lots of work is going on behind the scenes. Plans are being laid for the installation of the fiber optic backbone and for horizontal wiring in buildings. Floorplans in "Network 21" buildings are being reviewed, and the project team is compiling a list of NAMs to be installed as part of the project.
