Repro Graphics Joins Office of Administration
No disruption in services anticipated

After carefully considering the recommendations from the Repro Graphics Administrative Review Committee and the earlier IET-wide Unit Review, Vice Provost John Bruno and Vice Chancellor for Administration Janet Hamilton reached agreement in early November for Repro Graphics to transition to the Office of Administration. The transition was made effective December 1, 2001.

Dave Shelby, Assistant Vice Provost and Chief Operating Officer for Information and Educational Technology, helped plan and coordinate the transition. Echoing a sentiment shared by IET and Office of Administration leadership, Shelby noted that the Office of Administration represents the best organizational "home" for the Repro Graphics unit. This transition, in fact, comes at a time when the Office of Administration has announced some significant organizational changes for some of their service units, including the Mail Division with which Repro Graphics works closely.

"I believe that this move will be a very positive one for Repro Graphics and for the campus. Aligning Repro Graphics more closely with some of the units within the Office of Administration will foster even greater opportunities of partnerships that will benefit both the departments and the campus community," Shelby said.

Karen Slakey Hull has been appointed Acting Director of Repro Graphics and will continue to serve as Director of Campus Events and Visitors Services. "Over the last couple of months, we have met with the management team and staff and gotten to know them better. Clearly, Repro Graphics has a highly experienced and dedicated staff who are committed to providing excellent printing, copying, and design services. The Office of Administration is very pleased to see Repro Graphics join our service team," Hull said.

Hull holds bachelor's and master's degrees in business administration. She has spent the past 10 years leading organizations through strategic planning, major change processes, and systems improvements. Her experience working in private industry and on campus provides her with the requisite combination of skills to lead Repro Graphics in this critical time.

Because of the thoughtful planning by all organizations involved, the transition between administrative areas is expected to be seamless to Repro Graphics customers. "In addition to continuing to provide existing business lines, one of our immediate goals is to determine ways we can be an even stronger service partner to the campus community," Hull said.

Repro Graphics provides copying, printing, design, and publishing services to all members of the campus community. The production facility is expected to remain in its current location at Chiles Road for the foreseeable future. Contact information remains the same: (530) 752-COPY, or Repro Graphics@ucdavis.edu.
