Introduction to Mediaworks

Last March, Dr. John Bruno, Vice Provost for Information and Educational Technology (IET), announced the creation of a new Instructional Technology & Digital Media Center (ITDMC), to be led by a UC Davis faculty member. At the end of fall quarter, the Center was renamed Mediaworks to more aptly capture the breadth and depth of services offered.

The Information Technology Five-Year Administrative Unit Review (AUR) Report, submitted in April 1999, clearly pointed out many faculty frustrations with accessing instructional technology services and assistance. The Center was formed as a direct result of several of the AUR recommendations.

"Mediaworks provides a one-stop gateway to all of the digital media services IET offers," says Dr. Bruno. "More importantly, this unit is staffed with very talented individuals who are committed to working with faculty to apply the latest and most appropriate technologies in their teaching and research efforts."

For more on Mediaworks' formation and services, see the Mediaworks Web site.
