Update on IT Units Move

Additional departments heading to Chiles Road facility

During the next six months, over 80 Information Technology staff will move off campus to the former Pacific Standard Life (PSL) building located at 3820 Chiles Road in South Davis. They will join the IT-Creative Communications Services (CCS) staff already located there and the IT-Information Resources units which have relocated in the last three months. This move provides the university with on-campus space for academic programs in Academic Surge and Hutchison Hall.

PSL building
Several IT units are moving to this building at
3820 Chiles Road in South Davis.

IT departments moving to the yet-to-be-renamed building include Distributed Computing Analysis and Support (DCAS) and subunits of Information Resources (IR). The schedule is as follows:

  • IR Client Services will move in June and August. Client Services includes IT Express, IT Training, Site License Coordination, the Vendor Software Library (VSL), the Technology Support Program, and the UCD electronic postmaster.

  • All IR units located at Research Park and DCAS are slated to move in November.

  • The following IR units have already moved to the Chiles Road facility: Analytical Services, Project Management Office (March); administration offices, and Desktop Systems group (May).

The impact of the move on staff, faculty, and students who use the services provided by DCAS and the IR units will be minimized as much as possible. But there will be some downtime for certain services (see table below for service outages expected this summer). Specific downtimes will be announced on the IT Web site (http://it.ucdavis.edu/) prior to each move.
