More Modems Save the Day

Relief is here for UC Davis faculty and staff -- more modems have been installed! Communications Resources added 188 modems to the faculty and staff modem pools on January 29 to alleviate dial-up congestion and the resulting busy signals. The additions will bring the total number of modems in the Faculty, Staff and Student modem pools to 1,130.

The Information Technology Policy Board (ITPB) authorized the funding for the additional 188 56k modems on November 18, 1999. The ITPB will continue to explore the options for remote access at UC Davis. For more information on the campus modem pools, see http://access.ucdavis.edu/.
